Homepage Overview
Content > Pages > Index
The "Index" template is your homepage template and is assigned automatically to your home page. In the CMS, your homepage will be titled "Index" and cannot be changed. This template operates the same as your "Subpage Fullwidth" template.
The home page (Index) works using various modules and elements throughout Ekklesia. The basics are:
- Header area: three options - static image, looping/muted background video or image rotator
- Sections: ten fullwidth sections available (utilizing monklets)
Header Area
The header options for your homepage are the same for your subpage templates: static image, looping/muted background video or image rotator.
"Header Text" and "Header Overlay" Fields
The field "Header Text" adds content overtop of your static header image or background video. This works the same as the page content field, so you can include text, buttons, etc.
This "Header Overlay" check box option will add a dark overlay to your header image or background video, so the text overtop is more visible.
Note: the "Header Text" and "Header Overlay" fields will not be used with the image rotator option. The text overlay and additional settings pull from each rotator slide.
For the rotator options, see more info here >>
Sections
The rest of the page is controlled via sections, and the homepage sections function the same way as the "Subpage Fullwidth" template.
Home - Updates
This is a freeform content section, so any text, image, links, etc are managed in the content field. The "section heading" field is used for the title.
Home - Social Links
Content > Link Lists > "Social Links"
Displays a list of social icons. Each items requires a name, link and icon class. The custom icon is created by entering a custom class in the "icon class" field (ie: icon-twitter). A full list of icons is available here: http://cofchrist.monkpreview3.com/_assets/fonts/icons/
Home - Featured Event
Events > Events
Displays the next event published as featured. The event name will display as the section title. The date, location and text will also pull from the event details.
Within the Home - Featured Event section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Featured Event" is used. You can use the "find_category" or "find_group" to the latest featured event for a specific category or group.
The background image field is also used for this section.
Home - Featured and Latest Posts
Content > Blogs
Displays the latest featured post on the left, and a list of the latest blog posts on the right. The image, date, author and title will pull from the blog post details.
Within the Home - Featured and Latest Posts section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Featured and Latest Posts" is used in the content field. The specific blog you want to pull from MUST be added as an inline parameter:
ex: {{section-monklet-featured-and-latest-posts|name="our-blog"}}
**No other section options should be used with this monklet
Home - Upcoming Events
Events > Events
Displays the next 10 upcoming events in a carousel.
Within the Home - Upcoming Events section, the "section heading" field controls the title. The description and "view all" button are managed in the content field of the section.
Home - Our Stories
Content > Articles
Displays the 4 most recent articles from the Articles module published to the "Stories" category. The article image, title and summary field are displayed.
Within the Home - Our Stories section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Story List" is added in the content field. The "find_category" parameter is added to the monklet, in order to show only the latest articles assigned to the "stories" category.
ex: {{section-monklet-story-list|find_category="stories"}}
The "section heading" field is used to control the title. The description and "view more" button are managed in the content field of the section.
Home - Find a Church
This section is setup to in a two column format with text on the left and image on the right. Within the section, the "Two Columns - Image Right" category option needs to be added to display this format.
The left column is showing the section content field, and the "background color" field controls the blue background color. The "Section Dark" category option is also used.
The right column image is controlled by the "background image" field.
Home - Get Involved
Content > Link Lists > Get Involved
Within each item, the following fields are used: name, link and image. The image should be square (1,000px by 1,000px recommended).
Within the Home - Get Involved section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Image Row Square" is added in the content field. The "find" parameter is needed in order to specify which link list to use.
ex: {{section-monklet-image-row-square|find="get-involved"}}
The "section heading" field is also used to control the title.
Home - Rotator
Media > Rotators > "Home - Rotator"
This is a two column style rotator with the slide content on the left and image on the right. Within each rotator slide, you can specify an image, title, sub heading, caption, link and button text. The button text is required for a link.
Note: the "slide overlay" check box is only used with the header rotator option, not the content rotator.
Within the Home - Rotator section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Content Rotator" is added in the content field. The "find" parameter is needed in order to specify which link list to use.
