eNewsletter Template

Setting up a newsletter

This template contains several portions that are complicated to edit with the standard text editor, so we opt to use a section & some linklists to make that process a bit easier.  These will be explained a bit further in the next part.

1) The newsletter Content field will be used for the newsletter date (tagged as #2 in the next portion of this guide)

2) This template is labeled "eNewsletter".

3) For each newsletter to be unique, we'll need to tie in a unique section that points to several linklists and the header image.  The best practice here would be to label the section something recognizable, such as "Enews - 2/15/15".  We will refer to this section as the "Newsletter Options Section" in this guide.

1) The Social Links can be updated at Content > Link Lists > "Enews - Social Links".  This link list uses 3 fields: Name (which won't be visible in the newsletter), Link, and Image(these have already been generated for you.)

2) The Newsletter content field is used to display the date.  This style is created by creating a paragraph, then highlighting the month/day and selecting "enews-highlight" from the Formats dropdown.

3) The header image can be changed in the Newsletter Options Section by editing the "Section Background" field.

4) This Month - This area is set to display three content blocks which are generated from Link Lists.  This area uses the title, image, description, and link fields.  As explained in the previous step, we will add this linklist to the Newsletter Options Section by typing in the desired link list name EXACTLY into the "Enews This Month Linklist" field.  An example can be seen in the next step.

5) Across the Diocese - This area displays an unlimited number of links which are generated from Link Lists.  This area uses title, link, and description fields.  As explained in the previous step, we will add this linklist to the Newsletter Options Section by typing in the desired link list name EXACTLY into the "Enews Across the Diocese Linklist" field.  An example can be seen in the next step.

6) This area can be edited at Content > Link Lists > "Enews - Icon Links".  The name field doesn't appear on the frontend, but must be present to create the link.  The images have already been generated for you, so you should only need to update the links where applicable.

This view shows the Newsletter Option Section, and highlights the custom fields needed to display a newsletter.

1) This field controls the "Across the Diocese" area in the newsletter.  To add a linklist, simply copy the name of the linklist you'd like to use EXACTLY and paste here.

2) This field controls the "This Month" area in the newsletter.  To add a linklist, simply copy the name of the linklist you'd like to use EXACTLY and paste here.

3) This field controls the newsletter header image.  The image size for this area is 618px X 224px.
