Homepage Overview

Content > Pages > Index

The "Index" template is your homepage template and is assigned automatically to your home page. In the CMS, your homepage will be titled "Index" and cannot be changed. This template operates the same as your "Subpage Fullwidth" template.

The home page (Index) works using various modules and elements throughout Ekklesia. The basics are:

Header area: three options - static image, looping/muted background video or image rotator
Sections: nine fullwidth sections available (utilizing monklets)

Header Area

The header options for your homepage are the same for your subpage templates: static image, looping/muted background video or image rotator.

"Header Text" and "Header Overlay" Fields

The field "Header Text" adds content overtop of your static header image or background video. This works the same as the page content field, so you can include text, buttons, etc.

This "Header Overlay" check box option will add a dark overlay to your header image or background video, so the text overtop is more visible.

Note: the "Header Text" and "Header Overlay" fields will not be used with the image rotator option. The text overlay and additional settings pull from each rotator slide.

Sections

The rest of the page is controlled via sections, and the homepage sections function the same way as the "Subpage Fullwidth" template.

Home - Statement

Content > Link Lists > Home Statement

This link list is setup with only one item, and the following fields are used:

Name - internal use
Image - controls the background image
Description - controls the content

Within the Home - Statement section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Statement" is added in the content field. The "find" parameter is needed in order to specify which link list to use.

Home - Grid

Content > Link Lists > Home Grid

Within each item, the following fields are used: name, link, image, description and icon.

Within the Home - Grid section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Linked Image (2) Fullwidth" is added in the content field. The "find" parameter is needed in order to specify which link list to use.

ex: {{section-monklet-linked-image-2-fullwidth|find="home-grid"}}

**No other section options or content should be used with this section. It should be the monklet only.

Home - Events

Events > Events

Displays a list view of the 4 most recent events in the left column and the most recent featured event in the right.

Within the Home - Events section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Events - Campus" is used. This automatically passes the users selected/default campus to make these events campus specific, so no inline parameter is needed. This monklet will refresh when a user changes their default campus.

The subtitle and title are managed in the section content field, and the "Section Options: Container - Open Right" category is also used for this setup.

Home - Sermon

Content > Sermons

Displays the most recent sermon by campus.

Within the Home - Sermon section, the monklet labeled "Section Monklet - Recent Sermon - Campus" is used. This automatically passes the users selected/default campus to make these events campus specific, so no inline parameter is needed. This monklet will refresh when a user changes their default campus.

The subtitle and title are managed in the section content field, and the background image field is populated. The following section categories are used for the default setup:

Section Options: Container - Open Right
Section Options: Section Background Parallax
Section Options: Section Dark
Section Options: Section Overlay

Home - Newsletter

This is a freeform content section, so any text, image, links, etc are managed in the content field. The "section heading" field is used for the title.

For this section, the background image field is used, as well as the following section categories:

Section Options: Container - Narrow
Section Options: Section Background Parallax
Section Options: Section Dark
Section Options: Section Overlay Color

Home - Two Columns

Content > Link Lists > Home 2 Column Section

Each item in the list represents a column, and the following fields are used:

Name - column 1 or 2
Link - controls the button link
Image - controls the column background image (automatically adds a dark overlay)
Description - controls the content below the heading
Button text - controls the button text (required if a link is used)
Icon - controls the icon next to the heading title
Subtitle - controls the heading
